Why do I care? I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. When my enlistment ended, there wasn't a single briefing or form abrogating me from that. It is still binding and always will be. But to those breaking the law of the land, I'm the confederate?
When I was 19 I had a mentor who'd been a Green Beret officer in Vietnam. In all the stories and lessons he shared, the one that struck me most was this: Every morning you have to see yourself in the mirror when you shave. You'd better like who you see staring back. So, while I completely understand why others may be hesitant to commit, I feel compelled to. Sure as shit, you can't look yourself in the eye when your head is in the sand.
Also, I think it's time to put the tired Bubba meme to rest. I'm a family man, I work in corporate I.T., I'm educated, sane, semi-sorta-accomplished, own a home and fulfill my civic duties. I'm a registered Independent, I like Kraftwerk, can't decide between Middle Earth and Westeros, rue the day I became a Mets fan, and feel just as at home uptown as I do in the woods.
I can't see the melanin in your skin or the faith in your heart. I don't care who you love, and couldn't care less who you marry. I strive to be a good man, and have found that the backpacking ethos of leave no trace applies just as well to life beyond the trees. In a nutshell, I'm the regular, unassuming guy you just passed in the hallway, on the street, in the grocery aisle...

On May 16th, 2014, the rule of law as outlined in the Constitution will be returned, and those who've violated their oaths will be held accountable. I am stalwartly against armed insurrection and any manner of violence, with the only caveat being the unthinkable. As Tahrir Square exemplified, merely the presence of millions of like-minded patriots can effect change.
The only category unanswered is "how", but perhaps this blog is precisely that. I'll endeavor openly and honestly every step of the way, and hope these ramblings make some sense.
