I qualified on Saturday. These were my best groups to date and I aced the written exam, to boot. It was a great day packed with tons of information, and safety was right at the top of every single section. Amerikan separatists may consider this my further descent into neanderthalism, but I'm just happy to be able to protect my family.
The next step is to apply at the county sheriff. I have to bring my driver's license, $90 to cover processing and fingerprinting, the certificate from class and my DD Form 214. After that, it's just a waiting game until the powers that be conclude I'm worthy.
This doesn't have anything directly to do with Operation American Spring, of course. Colonel Harry Riley has communicated upside-down and sideways that it's to be a peaceful endeavor, and that's precisely what it should be. I'm just relating my experience with the process, as it's entirely new to me. This is an unalienable right that I'd never exercised before, and it makes me feel both proud and lucky to do so.
I'd also like to tell my staunch New York brothers and sisters that I support them wholeheartedly. "The shot heard 'round New York State" was felt all the way down here.
Here's the latest on OAS from the Colonel himself:
